What is a random symbol generator?

A random symbol generator picks one special character at a time from a fixed set of keyboard punctuation. Open this page and it immediately draws a mark such as @, #, or ?. Click again whenever you want another result—no signup, no settings, and no extra steps.

Use it when you need a fair pick for a prompt, a punctuation drill, a game, or a single special character to copy. The pool stays simple: 32 common ASCII symbols, each with the same chance on every draw.

How this random symbol generator works

Each click picks one of 32 symbols with equal chance. Consecutive draws skip an immediate repeat so it is obvious a new mark appeared. Copy the result, or tap a recent symbol to bring it back.

Password ideas

Grab one special character to mix into a passphrase, placeholder, or example string without hunting the keyboard.

Writing & design prompts

Use a random mark as a constraint: start a title with it, or pick punctuation to shape a layout or typography study.

Games & drills

Run punctuation quizzes, classroom drills, or party games that need one symbol at a time.

Frequently asked questions

Short answers about the symbol pool, keyboard shortcuts, and what stays on your device.

How does this random symbol generator work?

Each draw picks one character from a pool of 32 common keyboard symbols, including punctuation such as @, #, !, ?, and brackets. Every symbol has the same chance of being selected. The result is generated in your browser, so you can keep drawing without creating an account or waiting on a server.

Which symbols are included?

The pool covers printable keyboard punctuation and operators: marks such as ! ? @ # $ % & *, brackets, quotes, slashes, and similar ASCII symbols. It does not include letters, digits, emoji, or accented characters, so the result stays easy to copy into a password, prompt, or game.

Is every symbol equally likely?

Yes. The generator does not favor common marks such as the period or hyphen over rarer ones such as the caret or backtick. Each of the 32 symbols has an equal probability on every draw.

Why do I rarely see the same symbol twice in a row?

Consecutive draws skip an immediate repeat of the same character so it is obvious that a new result was generated. Over a longer session you can still see the same symbol again. The recent-symbol row keeps the last eight results so you can jump back if you need one of them.

What can I use a random symbol generator for?

Use it to pick punctuation for a password idea, a writing or design prompt, a classroom punctuation drill, or a game that needs one mark at a time. It is also handy when you want a single special character without scanning the whole keyboard.

Does this tool include letters or numbers?

No. This page is limited to symbols. If you need an English letter instead, use Give me a random letter. Digits 0–9 are not part of this pool.

Can I copy the symbol or draw again with the keyboard?

Use Copy symbol to put the current character on your clipboard. You can also press Space or Enter anywhere on the page to draw again, unless you are typing in a field or focusing a button. The large symbol is selectable, so you can highlight it manually if you prefer.

Do I need an account, and is anything saved?

No account is required. Symbols are generated on the device you are using. Recent results stay in the page only for the current visit and are not stored on a server. Close or refresh the tab and the history resets.
